Cordt T. Kassner, PhD
Principal
Dr. Kassner is a hospice and end-of-life healthcare industry analyst. He incorporated Hospice Analytics in 2008 to merge Medicare datasets in unique ways, and with other national databases, to better understand and explain how healthcare is delivered to those near the end of life. He earned degrees in Social Work (BS, Illinois State University), Counseling (MA, Denver Conservative Baptist Seminary), and Health & Behavioral Sciences (PhD, University of Colorado - Denver). His prior work experience includes 6 1/2 years as CEO of the Colorado Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, and 12 years of clinical and research responsibilities on the faculty of the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. Cordt continues to maintain a volunteer faculty position in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. He has served as a "translator" of information between administration/clinical healthcare professionals and researchers/statisticians for over 20 years.
Cordt serves and has served on numerous local, state, and national Boards and committees, and has facilitated over 100 workshops and presentations. He currently participates with the Population-based Palliative Care Research Network (PoPCRN) Advisory Group based at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Community Hospice Partnership Advisory and Economic Committees, Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) Palliative Care Task Force, Safe Place for Pets Board of Directors, Colorado Advance Directives Consortium, and founded the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Forum (CHEF).
The Team
Hospice Analytics is successful due to the collaborative efforts of too many people to name. However we would be remiss to not mention at least a few contributors: Jeff Towns and Lisa Buttigieg of the Michigan Hospice & Palliative Care Organization for inspiration, encouragement, marketing and graphic arts; Joe McGloin at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for database expertise and consultation; the State Hospice Organization Executive Roundtable (SHOER); and Jean Kutner, MD MSPH, Dan Johnson, MD, David Nowells, MD MPH, and a host of other mentors, colleagues, and friends.
